The influence of commercials

Cole wants a jean jacket. I can't figure out why, but since the weather got cool enough to wear a jacket to the bus stop in the morning, he has wanted one. I told him that I would watch for a cheap one at the consignment store or he could ask for it for Christmas, but we were done shopping for school clothes. He has tons of sweatshirts, jackets and even a puffy ski vest-- which I think is cute as can be, but he and Connor both think they are too puffy and won't wear them.

Anyway, he keeps talking about this jean jacket he wants. This morning as we were getting ready for school, he was fighting with me about wearing a jacket. It was in the 40's, so he had to wear a jacket of some sort. He calmly explained that if he had a jean jacket he would wear that and asked why I wouldn't go buy one. I explained that it cost money and we weren't spending money on things that we don't need. He asked me if I had a Kohl's card. I explained that we did not use store credit cards. He said that was too bad because if I had a Kohl's card, I could use my card to purchase his jacket and then earn cash back to get myself "something nice." Is it possible he watches too much t.v.?

47 reasons why I hate falling back

47 Reasons why I hate falling back
(ie: the fall time change.)

1.) At 2:36 a.m., Connor came in to our room to tell me that he loved me. Although it was sweet, I knew something was up.

2.) At 2:40, Connor came in to ask if his friend Maddox was coming for dinner on Saturday. I sent him back to bed.

3-9.) He came back several times until 3:08 when I tucked him back in bed and told him I did not want to see him again until the sun was awake.

10.) He got up shortly thereafter and went potty, but since I didn't see him, I let it go.

Ahhhhh, I fell back to sleep........

11.) Until 4:00, when Cole came in to ask if he still had to go to the dentist today. I said he did, but it wasn't morning yet and he needed to go back to bed.

12- 32.) Then he came back about 20 times. At one point he started humming in his room and I didn't really notice. Then it turned in to half singing/half screaming and I ran down the hall to try to get him to be quiet. I started his music again and that seemed to make him happy for a little bit.

33-47.) Somewhere around 5:30 they were both awake and were calling to us to see if they could get out of bed and play with each other and etc. We finally got out of bed around 6:45. So much for being able to sleep in for election day (no school for Cole.)

Halloween night

We had a fun halloween. Here is Cole, as Darth Vader, and Connor. I say Connor was Luke Skywalker, he says he was Obi Wan Kenobi. Either way, they were both cute.

We went to Sandy's street to crash their annual party, as usual.
Carson as Wall-E

Wolverine (Ryan) was fighting the Eli Darth Vader and the Cole Darth Vader.

Sweet friend Sara, with her chic new hair-do and her littlest one, Kylie.

Cinderella Macie, dancing with Queen Sandy

It started to really rain, so we crashed in to a friend's garage and ate our pizza.

Some people didn't have enough sense to come out of the rain.
(That would be Sandy and her parents!! :) )

The kids couldn't be contained in a garage for too long, they were too excited and the rain started to let up a bit--- at least for a few minutes.

Then we had a fast, short, wet version of the Halloween parade.

An attempt at a family picture
Finally, some group pictures

I left and went home to hand out candy, but David and the boys went trick or treating. They were soaked and cold and we enjoyed some hot chocolate and watched Charlie Brown, the great pumpkin when they got home. I hope they are old enough to start to remember some of these Halloweens. It certainly was not a dry Halloween, but it sure was fun..... of course, that is if no one catches pnuemonia from being out in the cold and rain!!!

Pumpkin patch

Here are some pictures of our annual trip to the pumpkin patch. They were almost out of pumpkins and about to get the next truckload (of 1000) so most of the ones that were left were pretty beat up, but we had fun. It was darn cold, so the kids were not that in to posing and picking pumpkins. They wanted to jump in the jumpy, get a pumpkin and get back in the car.

It has been surprising how cold the weather has been here lately, but we only had a couple nights in October with daddy in town and no baseball game, so we had to go when we could. After the pumpkin patch, we went to CiCi's pizza for a fundraiser for Cole's school. They love Cici's and although it is not David's favorite place, or mine for that matter, it is pretty darn cheap. Maybe even cheaper than cooking at home, so off we went. It was a good night.

Can you believe that we were so hurried to fit it in this year that we didn't even coordinate our outfits? Plus, did I mention it was stinking cold!!!! The outfits were covered with jackets and sweaters anyway.

Stone Mountain

Last weekend we took the boys to Stone Mountain with some friends to watch the laser light show. We played some football and had a big picnic dinner in the grassy area at the bottom and took the sky buckets up the mountain, where the kids had a blast jumping the stones. It was a lot of fun!

Hilton Head 2009 pictures

After a day of MOPS, work and school---then traveling, we were just glad to be there. Dinner was Subway subs. Connor was starving and ate a sub as big as his head!! It was too funny.

Then they just needed to get some energy out. There was a danceathon about 9:00 p.m.

Then, since that didn't really settle them down, go figure, daddy watched some t.v. in bed with them. Nothing says vacation (or someone is sick) like a ton of t.v. With a t.v. in their room, something they certainly don't have at home, it seemed like there was a lot more t.v. than usual, but it was vacation.

Fun eating and playing at a local marina.

The pool was right by the condo and had a zero entry area and a lot of children's features, so we spent most of our swimming time there. I think we were there everyday, sometimes twice a day.

Finally, Off to the beach. They begged for daddy to rent them a $4 boogie board, but they were both scared of using it. They didn't like the ankle strap. Cole wasn't crazy about the ocean anyway, this trip. There was more undertow than he is used to in the gulf and he had more fun playing in the sand. Connor, on the other hand, loved the ocean. Who could've figured.

Cole loved "playing pool" in the game room at the condo. Notice he doesn't really have the form down yet (but he thinks he does.)

We tried to get some beach pictures.

We even worked while we were there, lame, I know!! Nothing says a relaxing vacation like getting a little work done.

Cole asked for miniature golf all week and loved it. Connor had fun too, but wasn't as in to playing golf as running around.

There were alligators in the little pond at the condo, so we went on a few alligator walks to find the mamma alligator.

In addition to the pool table, the boys LOVED the air hockey table in the game room.

A morning walk on the beach

Connor played Karate with his shadow on the beach..... too funny!!

Rest time everyday was in their room. They had to be really quiet so their cousin could sleep. They did GREAT!! If only rest time was this easy at home.
